If there is such a thing as a theater hotel, that would be The Chatwal New York, the latest addition to Broadway hotels with 105 years of historic association with theater, thespians and Broadway.

The 83 room hotel is housed in a historic 1905 art deco building which began its career as a clubhouse for the Lambs, America’s first professional theatrical club.
The art deco and theatrical touch extends to the current decor, with an 18th century floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace in the restaurant that was a gift from the building’s original architect Stanford White to the Lambs. For functions, there is ‘The Stage Room’ with original Stanford White elliptical doors.
The entire restoration was overseen by designer Thierry Despont, who has recreated guest rooms with deco designs from the 1930s. The private bar, French doors, suede covered walls and leather wrapped double closets aside, even the bathrooms have a theatrical flourish, with mirrored walls that hide the television. One click of the remote, and the television appears. Another click, and it vanishes, leaving you to stare at your own reflection.
As a reminder that The Chatwal is a theater hotel, there are distinct themed suites. For starters, there is The Barrymore Suite, to which actress Drew Barrymore agreed to lend her family name, given her family’s long association with the building.
The Barrymore Suite is a 4,500 sq ft penthouse suite with 4 guestrooms, 2 sitting & dining rooms and kitchenettes, and 4 bathrooms. The master bathroom has an oversized Jacuzzi bath and raindrop shower. The suite comes with a heated outdoor terrace and a 1,000 sq ft roof deck.
There’s also a Directors Suite and a Producers Suite, both exclusively designed by Thierry Despont. Out of the hotel’s 83 guest rooms, 37 are suites and 14 have their own terrace.

The Chatwal NY offers butler service to all guests, and 24-hour room service courtesy of the Lambs Club Restaurant and chef Geoffrey Zakarian.

The Bar at The Lambs Club with its 20-ft windows looks like a good place to sip cocktails and watch the flow on 44th Street.
There’s also a 24 hour fitness center with personal trainers. The Chatwal Spa by Kashwere offers in-room holistic ayurvedic treatments, including private yoga lessons. At the spa, guests will find three treatment rooms, steam showers, and an infinity lounge with a saltwater lap pool that simulates three types of natural water currents.
